I spent a lot of time in bed today. Half the blankets ended up on the floor and I wiggled the sheets off my side. Sometimes that’s just how it goes. The kitties assure me that I’ll feel better tomorrow. We’ll see. Talk to you guys then.
Check back all month during the #31dayblogchallenge for daily posts.
This one happens to be about cats. ‘Cause I like cats. Chances are, if you post a photo of your cat on Instagram I’ll heart it. (I’m quiltartbymegan on there.) I might also like your quilt or landscape pictures but the furry felines will almost always get my attention. So here’s a few pictures of my four kitties for your enjoyment.
Let’s start with the youngest, Wormy. She’s difficult to photograph! Wormy’s a squirmy little runner but does enjoy drinking from the faucet. She’s very talkative when my husband and I wake up in the morning and likes to be pet inside her box on top of a dresser.
Next is LokiBear. She’s my sewing buddy and president of my husband’s fanclub. Seriously. If I’m petting her and he walks in she’s by his side in a flash. LokiBear loves to be snuggled under the covers and can be territorial. (I get to snuggle my husband too! Sheesh girly!)
Velcro is so named because he stuck to everything as a kitten. He has a bit better claw control now but still makes the velcro-ripping sound when he runs across carpet. Silly boy! He’s our gentle kitty. When he wants to snuggle he waits for you to look over at him before jumping up, like asking permission. Want him to love you forever? Bring beef jerky.
Here’s Milo. He’s a stubborn boy who thinks he can do whatever he wants. Thankfully what he wants to do is usually acceptable, like curl up next to my head to sleep. Or clean behind the other cats’ ears. Sweet stubborn kitty.
My husband and I are working hard to renovate this house. The newest finish is a big scratching post tree for our cats. It’s made out of pantry shelves covered in leftover carpet with 24’s, rope, and staples. Sweet, huh?! I love it when projects reuse things that were headed to the trash. Our kitties seem to like it even though most of them won’t cooperate for photographs.
Here’s the kitchen those pantry shelves came from. Some of the top cabinets we removed will be mounted in the garage for storage. The refrigerator’s been moved to the other side of the room and we’re leaving the stove, sink, and dishwasher hooked up as long as we can. New cabinets arrive on Tuesday! We’ll install the top ones, demo the rest of the kitchen, put flooring tiles in, install the bottom cabinets, then start tiling the countertop. We might be washing dishes in the bathtub for a while. Throw back to our motel-living days! So grateful to be here. When I’m not in DIY home renovations mode I’m working on this sweet baby quilt. The done so I’m quilting it all together from the back. This is an eye-spy quilt where each novelty print fabric (ladders, owls, pumpkins, etc) is used in two different blocks. So it’s great for a baby quilt and as the child grows becomes a look-and-find game to match the fabrics up. This one is big enough to snuggle under on the couch too.
With my new computer I’m now on Instagram. Are you? Let’s follow each other! I’m quiltartbymegan on there.
